Meet your Teacher
Meet Emily, your friendly, local Southsea Yoga Instructor.
Emily's journey with yoga began in 2016 when she visited India and was drawn to the ancient teachings of yoga and ayurveda. Her travels in Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Bali introduced her to Buddhist mindfulness teachings, which she has incorporated
into her practice.
Emily's fusion of movement, mindfulness, breathwork and meditation has been extremely beneficial for her mental health, self-love, and body image after struggling for many years. Through these fusion classes, she invites you to discover your emotions, and get in touch with intuitive movement in your unique body with a blend of modern and ancient teachings and techniques.
Join Emily on this journey towards a healthier and happier you.

MY STORY
After practising yoga for several years, I struggled to find a local studio or teacher that offered the kind of experience I was looking for. I didn’t want the clique, the cult-like atmosphere, or a highly priced, intimidating studio. I just wanted a normal yoga studio experience, somewhere I could turn up as I was, move my body, have a laugh, learn something new and feel completely comfortable doing it.
I wanted yoga to feel modern, light-hearted and accessible. To flow to a killer playlist, try new poses, learn mindfulness techniques and leave feeling better than when I walked in, all within a friendly, chilled-out environment where nobody took themselves too seriously.
During the coronavirus pandemic, while completing my yoga teacher training, I started offering friendly community classes as a free space for people to come together, share motivation, practise yoga and experience a little wellbeing. It quickly became about so much more than yoga. A community began to form and
as the classes and community grew, so did the desire for more in-depth classes, workshops and opportunities to explore yoga and wellbeing further. That’s when I decided to take the leap and build the kind of yoga space I had always wanted to find myself.
And so, Yoga by Emily was born.
A yoga studio without the clique, the pressure or the pretence. Just good yoga, good people, good music and a welcoming space to be yourself.
Alongside my yoga teaching, I’m a trained Reiki Master, having completed Master-level training that allows me to both practise Reiki and pass on the tradition through Reiki attunements and teaching.
Reiki is a gentle, energy-based practice that can offer a deeply restorative experience, creating space to slow down, reconnect and support your overall sense of wellbeing.
My training extends across a range of movement, mindfulness and wellbeing practices. I’m also a 200-hour trained meditation teacher and 50-hour breathwork instructor, with additional training in Rocket Yoga, Yin Yoga (150+ hours), Restorative Yoga, trauma-informed practice, sound healing and Yoga Nidra.
This varied training allows me to bring different practices together, creating experiences that go beyond the physical practice of yoga , with space for movement, stillness, breath, relaxation and connection.
Yoga is just one part of the journey.
