Regardless of whether you are practising a calming Yin Yoga session or a more intense power flow class, I love to incorporate a CBD ritual beforehand to take my yoga to the next level.


The Sciency bit: Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis sativa plant. CBD interacts with neuroreceptors in your endocannabinoid system, which sends signals between your cells to help regulate your movement, mood, homeostasis and immune system.

HOW DOES THIS BENEFIT YOGA?

Enjoy your dose pre-yoga or meditation to help relieve tension naturally, leaving you feeling more calm, relaxed and present with your breath. You know when you initially choose your yoga mat in class, after rushing from work, throwing on your gym gear and battling the evening traffic just to make it in time , and your teacher says those famous words “Arrive on your Mat…” and you're sat there thinking helpppp!


A little dose of CBD will really help you stay present and just let go of all that built up stress and tension of the day. Not just initially, many users also report a heightened mental focus throughout their class.

WHATS BEST? Depending on your class, lifestyle and personal preference will depend on which products will work best with your body and mind. Previously I have used CBD Oils which are more direct and fast-acting, which make them perfect if you are in a rush. Drops absorb through the glands under the tongue and get to work quickly. Similarly gummies, taste great and are easy to digest while on the go, however by digesting the CBD it can take a little longer to feel the full affects.

Topicals such as creams and lotions are great for soothing any slight niggles that could be holding your body back. Topical CBD products are absorbed through the skin into your system, but do not enter the bloodstream.
